For families and loved ones
What to expect,
without the sales pitch.
You have probably been promised a lot of things by a lot of people. Here is what this actually is.

The honest version
A recovery home is not
a treatment program.
We give a man a clean, sober, structured place to live with people who expect something of him. That is a real thing and for many men it is the thing that finally works. It is not therapy, detox or medical care.
If he needs to get clean first, he needs detox before he needs us. If he needs daily personal care, he needs more than a home. We will tell you that on the phone rather than take him and fail him.
See what each home doesQuestions worth asking us
- Which home would he be in, and why?
- What happens if he relapses?
- What is expected of him in the first month?
- What does it cost, and what does that cover?
- How will I know how he is doing?

Your part in it
What helps,
and what does not.
The men who do best usually have someone on the outside who stays steady: who shows up, who does not rescue, and who does not disappear at the first setback.
He is an adult and the program is his to work. We will not pass on everything he tells us, and we will not keep you in the dark about anything that matters. Where that line sits is a conversation worth having early.
How someone appliesIf you are the one who is exhausted, say that when you call. We talk to families every week and we know what that sounds like.
Before you get in touch
Common questions.
Can I call on his behalf?
Yes, and families often do. At some point he has to make the call himself, because the program only works if he wants it, but starting the conversation is fine.
What happens if he relapses?
It depends on what happened and what he does next. Both homes are recovery homes and drinking or using on the property is not something we can carry. Call and ask us directly rather than guessing.
Can I visit?
Visitors are welcome once the Program Director approves them. We do not publish the addresses, so arrangements are made through us.
Will you tell me how he is doing?
Within reason, and best agreed up front. He is an adult and the relationship we have with him depends on honesty working in both directions.
Talk it through with a person.
Describe the situation and we will tell you plainly whether this is the right place.
